On The Other Side

This is the story of our love.
You take a step toward the side of the wall
content to walk the long way around.
I stand before the wall,
arms extended, ready to climb.
You pause just out of sight.
I pause with both feet on the ground.

This is the story of our love.
You wait to see if I will join you
while I wait to see if you will join me
until we each tire of waiting
and move on without the other,
content to meet up again
on the other side.

      1. Great! Do me a favor. Follow that link to the challenge I pasted above. Copy and paste the code you see under the Fiction poetry badge on the right side of the screen into the “HTML” tab not the “Visual” tab of your post. I can take it from there.

  1. You’re on there. Submissions end tomorrow. Voting is all day Thursday. If you have time, read the other submissions on Thursday and click the hearts for your favorite three (but not your own). And I’m Nate, btw. I look forward to reading more from you. Good luck!

  2. The first stanza perfectly captures *it*. I love that repeated line and how it is something that can tie them together even with the differences and frustrations and misunderstandings. Welcome to YeahWrite!

This explains the longing and waiting for each other but the human nature of being tired/boredom takes over. Eventually they do meet on the other side. Beautifully etched.
