Into The Space Between

No thanks to you
I endured the fires
Of my youth.

Hatred and scorn;
Resentment everywhen.
Did you even care
How I needed you then?

Did you know when you left
That I’d follow in your footsteps?
Did you imagine I’d fall with you
Into your eternal cave of darkness?

Daddy,
None of that matters now.
I’ve inherited your misery,
Mirroring your furrowed brow.

Our only hope
Is to venture back,
Hand in hand,
Through healing balm
To healing calm
Into a distant dream.

Please come with me
Into the space between.
