5-yr-old

Is that sophistication
I perceive in your eyes?
How could that be?
You are only five.

Did you push your brother?
Yes, and for good reason.

When did you learn to think?
Where did you learn to reason?

Seven times your lifespan.
That’s how long I’ve lived.
But I am not experienced
seven times your equivalent.

I’ve been at my current job
As long as you have been alive.
In that time you learned everything,
all your motor skills,
to speak a new language,
and to understand a new world.

Compared to you,
I have been sitting on my hands.

I am humbled by your maturity,
humbled by my own obscurity.

Will I work for you someday?
When the day comes that I apply,
Will I even qualify?
